so, it was valentine’s day yesterday, and i wouldn’t have noticed its passing save for the fact that set meal prices went through the roof.

strangely, if you sift through all the angst and anti-vday sentiment on the internetz, it makes you wonder who actually is celebrating.

i imagine all the naysayers broadcast faux disdain on blogger just before their pussy-whipped asses take their girlfriends – with yellow-streaked/rebonded hair – out for the sungai wang valentine’s day special with 5-hours on non-stop jiwang cantopop and saLmon sashimi set going cheap at only RM888++.

valentine’s is valentine’s is valentine’s. i wonder why everyone is so against it to begin with. if people have the money and inclination and if paying 70% more for flowers and chocolates and food on 14 feb is the only way they know how to show affection, then whatever la. *aksi jari bentuk “W”*

but really, if everyone hates it, who is celebrating it? or is just no one admitting it?

so this is an atypical soliloquy about how i’d always wanted to celebrate valentine’s day (picnic! boat ride! daisies!). unfortunately for me (boo fucking hoo), i was dating a prick who claimed to hate the commercialism of vday, and of course backing it up with some very noble aspirations. “why must i show my love to you on this one one marketer-dictated date when i can spend everyday treating you like giselle bündchen?” he didn’t say.

i agree. too bad he was still treating me like shit the other “unspecial” 364 days a year. the only times i ever got flowers was when he was trying to ease his guilty cheating conscience. burn!

anyway, i did buy into that sentiment then but it’s easier to understand things now when i have living, breathing proof, a shining paragon of what a real gentleman should be.

for the first time in my life, everyday and every moment is special.
