i’ve never owned my own baju anything. a hari raya tradition of mine is to arrive at baby’s house on the night of the first day half naked (a pair of hot pants and a tank top, which will earn me a spanking from mima), streak past her house guests and plonk myself into her lovely outfits.

surprise surprise, i bought a yellow (YELLOW!) kebaya for RM200, which the girls assure me is the standard peak season price. looking at the delicate fabric and intricate handiwork, i’m not surprised at how much it costs. but why is the one-piece kain sarung the same price? tsk.

our hairstylist, ray sun, is another diva. not as big a superstar as ming (who never picked up my phonecalls), but probably 10 times the stalker.

this is my new hair, which surprised no one. half the people i met probably didn’t even notice it changed again. i like shaved sides but the only problem, which i believe everyone encounters, is that i can’t fucking seem to style it the same way. it’s been 3 days now and it looks absolutely nothing like this at all. fuckmylife.

called peekaboo, hairkunst, and raymond’s but none were good (peekaboo closes at 8pm, hairkunst was packed, raymond’s recommended stylist wasn’t around) so i went to jantzen again. ryan said four words, which is 4 times as many as the last time, and even he predicted i would not be able to grow it out. har har.

got this guy ryan who only muttered a very cringeworthy “i’ll cut it short and make it yeah” line and nothing else. no small talk. no getting to know you questions to suss out my personality. no singing to ABBA. no being all fabulous and shit.

anyway, thought the cut was… nice.

was pretty late when i snapped this and i felt as tired as i look, but i needed a picture of the cut for reference the next day.

what i particularly liked was the little tail thing at the back.  (check out my awesome bedframe against my awesome black-hand-painted wall in my awesome room.)

think this black sides/red top palette is my thing. 2 stylists, 2 similar cuts. coincidence? i think not.

in all seriousness, blogger product sells make slightly more sense to me, seeing as how with any random product you pick off the market (supported by a full print and tv campaign) the odds that the damned writer or art director have even touched it are near nada. *cough* suffice to say, i have not stepped foot in GSC Signature till this very day. yeah, fucking servicing never invited me to the launch either, but that’s a different rant altogether. of course i would prefer real product reveiews over advertorials any damn day, but who’s fussing?

so, why not? i rationalised. 2 years ago, my face care regime consisted of (and slowly evolved, if you consider it so) bar soap->liquid body wash->occasional body shop seaweed face wash->generic cleansing foam. 90 to 1 i wouldn’t be able to identify the current one i’m using despite having bought it myself and using it for a good month or so. checked. it’s biore face fit. or something. FACE CARE FAIL.

no. no before and after photos. i’m not blessed with beautiful skin like the aforementioned bitches (i hate you cynthia) and this ain’t a paid advertorial.

the scrub smelled nice. lemony and all. but i couldn’t tell any major difference. the self-heating mask? that kind of freaked my inner cynic out. self-heating? uhuhuhuh. as if. and then of course, it heated up and i panicked.and imagined my skin burning microscopically.

anyway, non-drama aside, my skin feels marginally prettier and smoother. but, damn man, if i need a miracle. well considering my 99% meat diet, chain-smoking, binge drinking, 4am nintendo ds nights, shitty skincare rituals, and non-stop coke consumption, i guess it could be worse.

there was a csi moment, where she was asked “was it a bob?” we were both astounded. ming’s like horatio minus the ickiness.

i’ve seen her so many times, but stupidly have never caught her name. amanda? the other hairstylist there always brings her little pommie. he was in full hip hop mode, bopping his head in time with ABBA.

i had the cutest email exchange with velvet ribbon but was sorely disappointed when she told me my moment’s indecision cost me the lovely ‘furby’ jacket. so i was, to put it mildly, pleasantly surprised when the sweetheart emailed me again later and said she had one more piece on hand and kept it for me.

got it yesterday. quick online monetary transfer (got la some fengsui issues about withdrawing cash yesterday). COD. and this lovely lovely jacket was mine.

thought it would be warm, but since i’ve been a little under the weather, i don’t feel so hot. hur hur hur.

purchasing this bag, we were assured by the stall owner that it was indeed an “original vincci”, which stunned both of us into anguished silence. it was so painful holding our laughter back, i tell you. original vincci, ok. omg don’t play.

got this pleather mng vest and a cute wife beater for RM15. can we all say it together? what a fucking steal.

then on aroha’s birthday dinner, i was presented with a shiny sparkly clutch from kak elly and a green playsuit from yc (which i switched with baby for pink, soweee!).

then baby and i just finished a yum cha session at our favourite weird cheap shopping heaven. we went a little crazy at this shop which sold cosmetic utensils from RM2 – RM8. altogether, my haul was RM13 while hers was RM15.

what what what is this: foot scraper, eyelash curler (with free rubber lining!), nail buff and eyeshadow foam brushes. wow, i mean, wow. will i ever use them all? probably not. but is that besides the point? duh! the point is that this haul is only RM13!

he was washing my hair and taking the piss out of me at the same time, as usual, when suddenly in the midst of his utterly fabulous monologue he gets an epiphany. “i’m so mean to you… i’m always so mean to you aren’t i?” i contemplate that for 2 seconds but before i get to answer he continues “but then how else can i make sure you come back?” yes, darling, you know i love the pain. anyway i got a belated birthday present. wheeeeeee!

was supposed to head to the pixel party but the “quick” detour soon turned into another uber drinking session. the outtake? random photos in my camera i don’t remember taking and puke in my crocs + on the rubber mats in my car + on my feet. wtf.

thankfully i’m a girl, and just like how we don’t sweat (we glow) we also don’t throw up like smelly hairy men, so my regurgitated beer smells like fucking roses and rainbows, yo.

for the first time, i managed to get a hold of ming within the same day of sending a desperate text (please cut my hair. pleeeeeeeeease.) and now i’m not too sure what to do with it.

i dyed it black (cos you never go back!) early this week to a huge response from my loyal viewers. my MD actually jumped in his seat. well,  it was a mess until i blew my fringe down (and i must confess, i snipped it too!).

why the sudden perempuan ayu syndrome? leaving the office, i was gripped by a fear of allowing my technicolour tresses to overshadow my personality. how depressing to only be known for outward appearances! naaaaaaah, it was actually all the unwanted/unwarranted attention from smelly rempits peeking through my car windows while idling at junctions and red lights. and for the last goddamned time, i am not your ah moi.

the current dilemna is this: jt thinks it’s nice, “looks like karen o” he said, but he flatters me. i think it’s nice too. but. BUT it’s also scarily remeniscent of my mother’s cut when i was but a wee grasshopper.

i love my ma. really. still people already say i LOOK like her (recognising me on the street because they thought i was her sister), SOUND like her (mistaking her for me over the phone), and after some soul-searching i realise the FUCKING INSANE bit is also hereditary.
